Language Revitalization
Since 2018, Akinoomoshin has provided language aquisition and learning opportunities, offering a variety of language programs, immersion experiences, and language-rich workshops with our circle of anishinaabemowin speakers and instructors from communities across anishinaabek traditional territories.
Our work has involved anishinaabemowin language houses, master-apprentice language programs, and virtual and in-person anishinaabemowin learning nests for children, youth and families, with up to 8 language speakers and 18 learners at a time.

Our anishinaabemowin programs are rooted in akii, the earth, with learners participating in a full range of cultural activities including beadwork, moccasin-making, cooking fish and other Indigenous foods, visiting maple sugar camps, starting tobacco seedlings, hidework and fishskin tanning, and listening to stories and oral histories.
